2017歴史街道丹後100㎞ウルトラマラソンの中止について

　第17回2017歴史街道丹後100㎞ウルトラマラソンは、非常に強い台風18号の接近に伴い、参加ランナーの皆さま、大会ボランティアほか関係者の安全が確保できないと判断し、中止せざるを得ない結果となりました。
　本大会に向けて日々練習を重ねてこられたランナーの皆さまには大変心苦しく、苦渋の決断ではございますが、何卒ご理解賜りますようお願い申し上げます。

　当実行委員会では、台風18号の進路が東寄りに進路を変えて以降、大会の開催実現を模索し、幾度となく協議を重ねてまいりました。

　しかしながら、9月15日（金）午前9時現在の気象庁の発表によると、「台風18号の進路予想は、非常に強い勢力を維持したまま日本列島に接近し、17日（日）には九州に上陸。京丹後市へは17日（日）の夜遅くに最接近することが見込まれ、さらには台風の北上に伴い、九州南部付近に停滞する前線の活動が次第に活発となり、16日（土）午後から西日本を中心に大荒れとなる見込み」とのことでした。

　このような予報から考えますと、16日（土）の前日受付に向け九州・中国方面からお越しになるランナーのみなさんへの影響、中心から半径200キロメートル以内が風速25メートル以上の暴風域となることでの海岸線等を走るランナーへの影響、また、大会終了後、帰路につくみなさんの交通への影響が考えられること等、3,662名のランナーのみなさんと、中高校生を含む約1,400名のボランティア・スタッフの安全確保が懸念されることから、15日（金）午後1時15分に臨時の実行委員会を開催し、今大会の中止を決定いたしました。

　遠方からのランナーも本市を目指して移動を開始されることも考えられますので、“早めの判断”、“早めの発表”が必要であると判断し、本日15日（金）午後2時をもって中止の発表を行った次第です。

　今大会は、このような結果になりましたが、来年以降も、多くのランナーのみなさんにご参加いただけるよう、これまで以上に魅力ある大会にしてまいりたいと存じます。

Regarding discontinuation of 17th International Friendship Race in Historical Road Tango 100km UltraMarathon

17th International Friendship Race in Historical Road Tango 100km UltraMarathon has been forced to cease due to the approaching of very strong typhoon 18th‘TALIM’ , judging that participating runners, tournament volunteers and others cannot secure their safety.
For runner who repeatedly practiced for this tournament, we are extremely struggling and it is our decision to terminate. We appreciate your understanding about this unfortunate situation.

After the course of typhoon 18th changed its course to the east, the organizing committee searched for the realization of holding the tournament and repeatedly discussed several times.

However, according to the announcement of the Japan Meteorological Agency as of 9 am on September 15th (Fri), "According to the typhoon 18th, the prediction of the course will approach the Japanese archipelago while maintaining a very strong force, and on the 17th (Sun) It landed in Kyushu, it is expected to approach Kyotango-city late at night on the 17th (Sun), and along with the north of the typhoon the activity of the front line stagnating near the southern part of the Kyushu region will gradually become active, From Saturday afternoon it is expected that it will be very stormy weather around West Japan ".

Under such a forecast, the influence on the runners coming from Kyushu-Chugoku area toward the reception on Saturday, windstorms with a wind speed of 25 meters or more within 200 kilometers from the center of typhoon on sunday, runners who run on the stormy coastline, and influence on the traffic of the return trip are considered.
Considering the effect of 3,662 runners and about 1,400 volunteers including middle and high school students, we are concerned about ensuring the safety. We held an extraordinary organizing committee at 1:15 pm on 15th (Fri), we decided to cancel the tournament.

It is also possible for runners from a distance to start moving towards Kyotango-city, so we decided that "early judgment" and "early announcement" are necessary, and I made an announcement of cancellation with the tournament at 2.p.m.today.

Although discontinuation of the tournament was regrettable, but I make a progress to make it more attractive tournament than ever so that we welcome so many runners on next year.
